Pipeline markers
The natural gas pipelines that serve your home or business are usually located underground. Pipelines are marked by above ground signs indicating their presence and location. The primary function of these markers is to identify the general location of the pipeline as an alert to those who may be working in the area.
Pipeline markers are important for public safety. It is a federal crime to willingly remove, deface, damage, or destroy any pipeline right of way marker or sign.
Call before you dig
To locate natural gas lines more precisely, call Miss Utility of West Virginia at 811 (or 1-800-245-4848) at least two days before you start any drilling, blasting, or excavation work of any kind.
There is no charge for this service.
Someone will come to mark the location of our underground gas lines so you can do the work safely and avoid an interruption of your service.
